Existential Threats

Much has changed in the eight months since my last blog. I have spent most of that time working in Sydney at Disney studios building sets for the films Street Fighter and Greyhound. The ten hour shifts, and often six day weeks, took my focus off this website. One internet activity I continued to monitor is the advance in Ai, it’s exponential rise, and its existential threat to society. I’m stealing time now in an attempt to master it before it reconfigures society and masters us. The human race seems already lost but I’m running in it anyway. Mo Gawdat, a former chief business officer at Google X, gives an informative appraisal of our dire situation in an interview on the Business Insider podcast. It is titled: We’re Entering The Most Dangerous Phase Of Ai Yet. He knows Ai well and gives warning to the turbulent times ahead, it is worth giving it a look and listen.
